Members of the NCSILC shall be appointed by the governor and shall be composed of members:
- who provide statewide representation, and who represent a broad range of disabilities from diverse backgrounds;
- who are knowledgeable about Centers for Independent Living (CILs) and independent living services;
- Voting members - a majority of whom are---
- individuals with disabilities described in Section 7(8)(B) of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1992; and
- not employed by a State agency or CIL.
Members of the NCSILC shall be composed of:
- at least one CIL director that is chosen by the directors of the other CILs within the state;
- an ex-officio, non voting member from each of the Designated State Units (DSUs); and
- ex-officio representatives from other State agencies that provide services for individuals with disabilities.
The NCSILC may include:
- other representatives from CILs;
- parents and guardians of individuals with disabilities;
- advocates of and for indviduals with disabilities;
- representatives from private business;
- representatives from organizations that provide services for individuals with disabilities; and
- other appropriate individuals.
