Membership Committee Meeting
October 13, 2016

Present: Sandy Ogburn, Keith Greenarch, Kay Miley, Barry Washington, Theresa Staley, Sandra Hicks
Sandy and Keith presented we have 5 new applications for potential membership. One application was Jeff McCloud, a former member. The committee decided to present him to the full council on Friday, October 14 during the quarterly meeting for voting. One of the other applications is Michael West. The committee heard from member Barry Washington who recommended Michael to apply. He informed the committee that this potential member can bring a lot of strengths to the table. Kay will set up a date and time to interview him, while Teresa checks his other references.
The remaining 3 applications are all employees of a CIL. Therefore, at the present time they will not fulfill our demographic requirements. Their applications will be filed for future determinations.

Keith stated he would like for us to contact VR in Elizabeth City and Boone to inquire if they had and referrals for potential members. Sandra will contact Boone and Sandy will contact Elizabeth City.
 Sandy contacted a social worker that she knows from Coastal Carolina Community College. She works in Jacksonville and lives in New Bern. She also has many business contacts throughout the state. She was asked if she knew of anyone that would be a potential member. She said she would review our website and help us find potential members. If we ever have an opening for a person without a disability, Emily would be a good member. 
All members of the membership committee pledged they would continue to look for potential members and even increase the focus they place on their role as a membership committee.
